To the northeast of the province of León, in the heart of the Picos de Europa, on the border with Asturias and Cantabria and flanked by the ports of Panderrueda and Pandetrave, is the Valdeón Valley.
A spectacular landscape
The landscape, impressive, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and spectacular of the Spanish geography.
An own habitat to survive
The steep and high peaks that attract thousands of visitors today, were once the barrier that led to the geographical "isolation" of this Leon region, which, together with the great distance to the nearest population centers, forced the inhabitants of Valdeón to create their own survival habitat.
From the daily to the tradition
Over time some of the everyday events of that time have become entrenched as traditions. One of them is the elaboration of the Blue Cheese of Valdeón.
